and V-day are important to her becasue, "It allows women to
join together and not be ashaimed of who they are and of
their bodies. I think that women too often now in society are
not emcouraged to be sexual and to talk about their
sexuality. The Vagina Monologues are an 'in your face' way of
acomplishing that and they manage to do it in a comical way
so that everyone can relate and enjoy themselves."

Danielle Louise Spencer
V-Day 2008 Organiser
This is Danielle's second year of VDAY madness and she is
proud to be the official organiser, having directed previously.

'Last year we raised $100,000 for women seeking asylum in
Hong Kong.  As a result I started to work with the women and
have seen what a difference the money makes to their
everyday lives.  This is a small charity and as such the funds we
raise have a direct impact on the women and their children.
Lets raise more this year - not just money, but also awareness.
Lets make people remember women that are all too often
forgotten.'
Lara Day
Many many years ago, too many to count on five hands, Lara
and her vagina were thrown together by a happy - some
might even say glorious - twist of fate. Like all strong
relationships, theirs has been characterized by highs and lows,
soaring rapture and deep lamentation, and yet they've
managed to stay together through it all, probably thanks to a
combination of patience, playfulness and good,
old-fashioned palm-greasing (which, as you know, means
bribery). They do have their own distinct identities, however,
and while Lara enjoys taking pictures and scrawling love
notes to her hometown of Hong Kong, her vagina prefers
reading, making music and holding long, convoluted debates
about everything and nothing.
Shiona Carson
Shiona is honoured to be a part of the powerful
V-monologues. She completed her Drama Degree in Brisbane,
Australia and has up until recently been teaching and
directing Drama here in Hong Kong as well as performing for a

immersed in experimental/physical theatre as well as a major
performer in the Emerge Project based in Brisbane, which is a
creative platform for emerging artists both in writing and
performance.
Jemma Stillwell

enthusiasts and cannot wait to bring awareness to fellow
Vaginas about refuges in Hong Kong. Jemma has previously
done lots of overdramatic musicals, including Bugsy Malone,
West Side Story, Pyjama Game, Sweet charity and Grease
(several times). This will be a new and great experience for
Jemma to do what she loves doing best; perform while raising
awareness. Jemma says get out your wallets and start raising
money to help the V Day cause. Have a wonderful evening.
Jenna Verdicchio
Jenna has been living in Hong Kong for eighteen months and

Janet Yuen
A rare opportunity to discuss privates publicly, Janet Yuen's
performance marks the close of the accidental actress's
eight-year hiatus from the stage, initially brought on by a
fashion tragedy involving orange leg warmers (Connie Wong
in A Chorus Line). This 27-year-old Canadian native's illustrious
acting career spans a scant five years, in which she appeared
in several plays and musicals in her Calgary, Canada,
hometown and twice in independent film productions in
Vancouver. By day, Janet dreams up marketing and
communications strategies, and by night, she seeks and
devours Hong Kong's best dinners with deadly accuracy.

Justin Gaurav Murgai
After being labeled the token male vagina of the V-Day pack

given such an impressive title?!

of Phoenixation Productions, a local theatre production
house, Justin has produced and designed several

Gloria Xiao
I knew VM when in University, while my professor was doing
this activity to against Sexual Violence towards Women and
to raise women's rights in China. I signed up this time in HK
surely believe it will be a different experience with a troop of
great ladies.

"A six-year-old girl was asked in an interview"...I guess I am the
right one who should pick up this role, lol.I have no experience
about love or sex between the two genders, which should be
regarded as the immortal and instinctive subject of human
beings. But something is there all the time, they exist, even
when you don't touch it, see it or feel it. You just don't know
what it is until you learn it.

Learn it right. Sense their connection. Take the role fair.

That's the reason I decided to put VM very seriously into my
life agenda and spread it to friends. I don't want them to get
a totally wrong picture of this fantastic script. That's an
internal world of women you have to understand, no matter
you are male or female.
Donalda A. McCarthy
better known as Miss Donni these days! She's been actively
teaching drama and dance in Hong Kong for the past two
years, and in Florida befor that. Her degree from Clark Atlanta
Speech Communication. A burgeoning director and
choreographer specializing in youth and amateur performers,
she is working towards completing her portfolio to apply to a
prestigious grad school program.

Donni, who's childhood was marred by images of her own
mother being victimized of domestic abuse, has been an avid
supporter of Eve Ensler's efforts and is proud that the work
continues all the way over here. It's important to her that her
beloved nieces don't fall prey.

Diana "Dee" Cheung
"Dee" is oragasmically excited to be involved with the VDAY
Campaign of 2008! This is her first year working with so many

the support Hong Kong has offered. Dee is grateful for the
opportunity to be making a difference for women around the
world.

Dee studied English Literature at the University of Waterloo
and is a part of the Canadian Latin American Dance
Association. Dee moved to Hong Kong in 2006 and has been
teaching drama and dance in local schools and corporations
since. Many thanks and blessings to everyone who has made
this event possible in Hong Kong .
Yuenwan Kam "Queenie"
There are many open forums about women rights and
positions in society, however, they seem to forget or ignore a
topic that every woman should give voice to i.e. their bodily
desires and many roles of women. Many women in Hong Kong
are still fraught with embarrassment and feel uncomfortable
to talk about this topic.

Being a Chinese woman, she rarely has a chance to talk about
women’s body needs with her female friends here. Even in this
modern Hong Kong society, so often heralded as open and
western, women here still find it difficult to be fully honest in
discussion of sexual propriety and practice. She thinks this is
such a great opportunity for women in Hong Kong to be
creative and openly explore this “such too often” taboo
subject through Vaginal Monologue. For her, she is very
excited to be part of this production and expect to be
enriched by this experience
Michelle Rocha
Michelle is sleepy. This is probably due to her over-whelming
passion for arts, theatre and other fun stuff which leads to
prolonged deficit in sleep.

Apart from normal work like organizing rock concerts for Linkin
Park and Oasis during their Asia tours, producing theatre
shows and art exhibitions, teaching theatre in secondary
school… she actually has more exciting work – being a
student.

It’s her first time working for V Day, and she is loving the
vaginas and penises here already J

“Features” of vagina were studied in biology class. Through
the Play “Vagina Monologues”, we actually know what its
“functions” are.
Jay Stanley
JSince emerging from one at a young age, Johnson Stanley
has been a fan of vaginas and deplored the abuse of their
proprietors. He jumped at the opportunity to help the Vagina
Monologues as a designer. Johnson is a mild-mannered desk
jockey and I.T. professional by day. By night he roams the city's
rooftops as a freelance designer of websites, documents and
more. Though a novice, he has experience working with a
broad array of digital media.
